ADHD Treatment

We specialize in the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and our patients turn to us whether they prefer to avoid medication or want supplemental help via cognitive therapy or cognitive training.

Every patient is different and every approach to treatment is tailored to the severity of each case. Our experience with treating ADHD using methods such as Interactive Metronome therapy and AudioVisual Entrainment has helped many people overcome the challenges of ADHD.

● Interactive Metronome Therapy is an assessment and treatment tool we use to treat pediatric and adult patients with neurological conditions that affect cognitive and motor functioning. IM is an evidence-based, engaging therapeutic modality that improves cognitive and motor skills. The design of the program ensures that patients recognize progress as it is occurring, providing encouragement and motivation toward therapy and their ultimate recovery. We use IM therapy for ADHD as well as:

       Attention
       Coordination
      Language processing
      Reading and math fluency
     Control of impulsivity/aggression

Children respond well to IM's game-like auditory-visual platform, which is engaging and provides constant feedback at the millisecond level to promote synchronized timing in the brain. Exercises can be customized and involve a hierarchy of increasingly complex and precisely timed motor movements intertwined with gradually higher and faster cognitive processing, attention and decision-making. Patients who are challenged and can see measurable improvements are more motivated to continue their therapy and achieve optimal success. Interactive Metronome Therapy can also benefit older clients who need help regarding memory issues, processing information, sequencing, and/or motor coordination. This type of therapy has been used to enhance the functional abilities of clients with TBI and many other medical conditions.

● Audiovisual Entrainment is a subset of brainwave entrainment. The treatment uses flashes of lights and pulses of tones to guide the brain into various states of brainwave activity. Altering brainwave activity can help patients with ADHD, especially children.

Audio Visual Entrainment can also be used to treat anxiety, depression, insomnia, and seasonal affective disorder, among others. AVE can be beneficial as a 'stand alone' treatment for ADHD and other disorders, and can produce changes in only a few treatment sessions. It has a proven track record of safety, especially when compared to alternative pharmaceutical treatments.
